“Beyond Data” takes investigation and interpretation of site contamination to a new level, giving you an indepth understanding of the big picture – the use of a Conceptual Site Model (“CSM”). In this highly interactive workshop, we break into teams of 3 to 5 persons and tackle challenging tasks as we learn the key elements of an effective CSM. Each team member is provided strategically linked, downloadable lecturettes, to gain an understanding of current and innovative approaches to site investigation, risk management and cleanup. The workshop uses many real-world examples and the latest concepts in adult learning to put you into the critical learning zone, gaining competency in the assessment and interpretation of environmental data, and in the communication of your findings. Using synthetic data sets, we’ll sketch out stratigraphic cross-sections, post and contour data, examine fate and transport processes, think, hypothesize, test and write. We’ll learn the art of
integration – examining physical, chemical and biochemical data sets within the context of subsurface hydrogeological and historical settings to help you develop a CSM for every site you work on.
